Photos taken around christmas 1996 at the indonesian catholics student community in Berlin (a little background: They were so religiously tolerant that they even picked me, back then a buddhist, as their community vice leader).
They celebrate christmas each year beginning with a long prepared mass,
continued with a celebration in the church hall -open for everyone- with live songs, operette and disco.
Well, that’s not what people typically do on christmas, namely gathering with the family.
But hey, they are some 20 hours flight away from their indonesian homes. And there, friends are the family.
